Coach Steve Spurrier talks about the suspension of QB Stephen Garcia for the first week of spring football practice. The Gamecocks will practice Friday at 4:00pm before having their first scrimmage Saturday morning at 10:00am. Garcia and the other suspended QB Andrew Clifford should be back at practice on Tuesday March 22. The question is will Stephen Garcia be listed as number 2 on the depth chart behind Connor Shaw and have to work his way back into the starting position.

Also coach G.A. Mangus said he is pleased with backup QB Dylan Thompson. “Dylan (Thompson) has been a pleasant surprise,” said Mangus, the Gamecocks’ quarterbacks coach. “He’s a football head. You could tell he has paid attention and learned some stuff and used his redshirt year wisely, so we’re going to give him a chance to play but he’s got a long way to go.”

Todays practice at 4:00pm will be the first in pads and I am looking forward to it.
