South Carolina Has More Problems Than Garcia

I wanted to wait until after I had looked at a tape of the game to write this. Wanted to make sure what I saw in the stands was correct. Watching the game the South Carolina offensive line looked bad. After watching the tape, yes they were really bad. Last week I wrote that the offensive line did not look very good against Vanderbilt but maybe it was just one bad game.
After the game against Auburn there are some big problems. Not just bad QB play. The freshman Matulis that we have been hearing so much about had a terrible first game. Or first half I should say before he was replaced by Cody Gibson. Marcus Lattimore was unable to find any running room anywhere. Without him picking up a 100 yards a game it will be hard for the Gamecocks to beat much of anybody.
The line reminded me of Derek Watson days when he was getting hit as soon as he got the handoff and making some great runs just to get back to the line of scrimmage.
Stephen Garcia spent most of the afternoon scrambling out of the pocket or taking tremendous hits as soon as he threw the ball. They have to improve fast or it doesn’t matter much who is the QB. If Lattimore can’t run the Gamecocks can’t win. It’s as simple as that.
As for Garcia he had another bad day passing the football. But one of the interceptions was not his fault. The one across the middle goes to Ace Sanders. He was not looking for the ball at all. The announcers on TV noticed that Sanders was not looking for the ball and talked about it. I have seen that several times this year where the receivers stroll down the field not looking for the ball and it goes by them before they know what happened.
I look for Connor Shaw to start this week or look for Steve Spurrier to at least alternate the QBs to try and get something going. Against Kentucky it probably will not matter who the QB is they are so bad.
But again they must fix the OL in my opinion to have a chance to beat Arkansas, Florida or Mississippi State .
